Original Summary
Over a few weeks of evenings I built QuickQuote: you type job notes as rough as you like ("knock thru kitch/diner, new lintel, skip 1 wk"), it tidies the wording, works out VAT, discounts and deposits, and gives you a branded PDF quote in about two minutes. It's aimed at UK cleaners, builders, decorators, gardeners and photographers. Last night I posted it in a trades subreddit. The top reply was basically "no one cares, and we won't pay for a tool built off the back of our work", and another said "my CRM already does all of this". Harsh, but useful: - Tradespeople are wary of being "researched" by outsiders. Lead with their problem, not your build story. - Anyone already on a CRM (Tradify, Jobber etc.) has quoting. My market is probably sole traders who still use Word or WhatsApp, if they care at all. - Making the PDF isn't the valuable part. Getting paid is: accept links, deposits, follow-ups. Things I'm happy with technically: - Money maths in whole pence, with discounts split correctly across mixed VAT rates - The AI only rewrites wording and never touches prices (that's a trust thing) - A scroll animation where a crumpled notepad turns into the finished quote, which took far too long on mobile I'm running a free demand test with separate pages per trade to see which one bites, and so far one gardening firm has signed up and said "maybe" to £9/month. Two questions for this sub: Would you pivot to the "after the quote" stuff (accept, deposit, chase), or narrow to one trade first? Does the landing page make it obvious what it does in five seconds?
