Original Summary
Hey everyone! I’m a network and security engineer by trade, but recently I’ve gotten into collecting trading cards. One thing I quickly learned is how frustrating it can be to find sealed products at retail prices. Between scalpers, preorders selling out in minutes, random retailer queues, and constantly checking websites for restocks, it honestly started feeling like a second job. So a few weeks ago, I decided to do something about it and started building PrintedPrice . The idea is pretty simple. I wanted one place where collectors could see what’s coming out, what the actual retail price should be, when they have an opportunity to buy it, and which retailers have products available without ridiculous markups. What started as a small personal project has grown quite a bit. The site now tracks upcoming releases, preorder windows, retailer queues, lotteries, and fair-price inventory across several trading card games, including Pokémon, Lorcana, One Piece, and Magic. I’ve also started writing guides to help newer collectors navigate a hobby that can be surprisingly confusing. One thing I’ve been pretty perstnt about is keeping it free and accessible. No accounts, no paywalls, and no marketplace. I just want to build something genuinely useful for people who enjoy collecting but don’t want to spend their entire day hunting for products. I’ve been putting a lot of my free time into this, and while I’m happy with how far it’s come, I also realize I’ve probably developed some serious tunnel vision from staring at it for so long. That’s why I’m posting here. I’d really appreciate some fresh eyes on the project. I’m curious whether the purpose is immediately obvious, whether the site is easy to navigate, and whether it feels like something people would actually use. I’m especially interested in hearing what doesn’t work or what you think could be better. I’m not looking for anyone to sugarcoat it. If something sucks, tell me. That’s how I’ll improve it. Visual clarity and information presentation is important it’s a lot of info I’m trying to get across Here’s the site: https://printedprice.com Thanks for checking it out! I’d also love to hear from anyone who’s gone through the process of turning a personal frustration into a side project. It’s been a pretty interesting experience so submitted by /u/WaitingOnNiko [link] [comments]
