Original Summary

So I came up with this idea for a simple "When are you free?" tool because the friends that I play games with online live all across the country and have busy schedules. Everyone constantly pitching a date to play Catan in the groupchat, then someone inevitably having a conflict was getting really old. Even back in COVID times when we were much more free, it was still a challenge to schedule D&D sessions with our group and I wanted to make something that helps with that. I know tools like When2meet and WhenIsGood already exist, and they work well. My problem with those was that when you use them, you feel like you're in 2004. The options are tiny when you're accessing from a phone and just not great from a User Experience perspective. I wanted something that felt modern and was super easy to understand how you use it, so I made my own. It’s called Hangtime: https://hangtime-six.vercel.app/ How it works: You make a poll, add your friends’ names, and pick a date range (whole days, mornings/evenings, or you can specifically add the time of day you're proposing) You send one link. Everyone taps their name and picks the days they’re free on a calendar You can’t see anyone else’s answers until you send yours, so nobody just copies the group Once everyone’s in, it circles the day that works for everybody. If there isn’t one, it shows the closest options and who’s missing There's no accounts, no emails, no phone number, nothing to download, and it's free. Your device will remember any poll you've hosted or taken part in when you revisit the website. Polls delete themselves a week after the last proposed date. Let's get the big discussion piece out of the way: Yes, this was built with the assistance of AI. I have a background in code and database management but I've never built a web-app before and I needed help walking through the steps to link a database to a working front end. I'm aware that the design looks like it was made by AI, that's something I plan to address down the line. What I'm looking for is some extra user feedback outside of my group of friends. I know there's groups of people out there who would use this and I want to hear things about the tool that I didn't think of. What I’d love feedback on: Is it obvious what to do when you first open it? Did anything confuse you? How does it feel on your phone? That’s where most of my friends open it Anything that felt clunky or took more taps than it should? What would make you actually use this over a group chat or one of the older tools? Feel free to make a test poll and send it to yourself or a couple of friends. Brutal honesty is welcome, I’d rather hear it now. Thanks for reading! submitted by /u/rychder [link] [comments]
