Original Summary

I spent about 6 months looking for a job and sent close to 1,000 applications . After a while, I kept noticing the same pattern: jobs staying open forever, disappearing and coming back, or being reposted again and again and when I tried to apply again for the role it would say that I already applied for it. It frustrated me because there I was spending time on adopting my application to the company that had more interest in harvesting my data rather than hiring. Which is why I developed Unveil, a free Chrome extension that shows things like posting history, reposts, and other signals that may indicate higher ghost-job risk. Unveil works while you’re browsing job listings and gives you extra context before you apply. It tracks how jobs behave over time — when they were first seen, whether they’ve been reposted, disappeared and returned, and other lifecycle patterns — and turns that into a simple risk assessment. The goal isn’t to tell you whether a job is definitely fake, but to help you decide where your time is actually worth investing before spending another hour tailoring an application.
