Original Summary
I’ve been sitting in r/SideProject watching everyone ship cool stuff in React, Next and whatever came out last Tuesday, and I keep wondering: where are the Django people? . 👀 So, Django devs, a question. How do you deploy your side projects? And do you experience it as a hassle? Mine used to be: weekend 1, build the app. Weekends 2 to 4, fight a Dockerfile, a database, secrets and HTTPS, then quietly stop working on it. So I built what I wished existed. You run manage.py djangocloud deploy , and your app lands on AWS with HTTPS, migrations, Postgres, logs, metrics and rollbacks. You don’t need a Dockerfile or the AWS console. It’s called Django Cloud. You can run it in your own AWS account for $0.99/mo and pay AWS directly, or have it fully managed from $15/mo. It’s early and I’m one person. What I’d love from you: How do you deploy today, and what’s the part you dread the most? Would you trust a tool like this with a real project? What would you want to see first? What would you try to break first? Be mean, I can take it. And if you’re a Django dev who has never posted here, say hi anyway. I’d just like to know I’m not the only Pythonista out here 😄 Check it out on djangocloud.dev submitted by /u/Human-Possession135 [link] [comments]
