Original Summary
Over the past several months, I have been building an independent mobile application called Pawdit. Most modern personal finance tools rely on mandatory cloud synchronization, third-party banking aggregators, or recurring subscriptions simply to log cash outflows. Pawdit was built around an offline-first architecture and behavioral friction rather than passive data tracking. Core Architectural and Design Decisions: Zero-Cloud Local Persistence: The application operates entirely on-device using Drift (SQLite) tables and reactive streams. No user accounts, registration screens, or third-party analytics SDKs are implemented. All financial records remain strictly within local device storage. The Cat Math Engine: Rather than abstract charts, expenditures are dynamically converted into finite mortal labor hours based on a calibrated hourly wage baseline (or measured strictly in vice units such as tuna cans when uncalibrated). The ledger is overseen by a deadpan auditor cat named Taxes. The 10-Second Reality Check: Discretionary purchases trigger a mandatory cooling interval. Walking away preserves capital and awards discipline treats; proceeding with the transaction docks one of nine monthly lives. Sanctuary Habitat: Treats earned from walking away allow users to furnish Taxes' room. Depleting all nine lives causes the auditor to retreat into an empty carton until the next cycle. Current Stage and Android Closed Beta: The iOS version is currently awaiting review, and the Android build is in active Closed Testing on Google Play. I am looking for Android users to test the current build and provide feedback on keypad responsiveness, UI scaling across screen densities, and the pacing of the friction modals. How to Access the Beta: Join the [Pawdit Testers Google Group]( https://groups.google.com/g/pawdit-testers ). Access the Google Play testing link pinned in the group welcome announcement to install the build. Development logs, 2D vector asset production, and engineering notes are documented on the [Pawdit Instagram Devlog]( https://www.instagram.com/dermius.paws/ ). Any feedback on the client-side architecture and usability is greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/Dermius1997 [link] [comments]
