Original Summary
I watch a lot of YouTube videos and podcasts to learn new things, especially technical content. One thing kept happening: someone would mention a concept I didn't understand. I'd pause → open another tab → Google it → read a few results → go back to YouTube... and completely lose the flow. So I built Holumiq . It sits beside the YouTube video and lets me ask things like: "What does this term mean?" "Explain this like I'm new to the topic." "What does the speaker mean by this?" "Why is this important in the context of the video?" The answer is based on the video's transcript, so I can explore something I don't understand without leaving what I'm watching. I ended up adding a few other things I wanted myself: summaries, key takeaways, searchable transcripts, timestamps and translation. There's also a web version because I often listen to podcasts while commuting and want to look up something the host or guest mentioned from my phone. The idea isn't really to replace watching the video. I want Holumiq to be more like a learning companion beside the video — helping you understand unfamiliar concepts as you encounter them. I finally published the Chrome extension and I'm looking for feedback. Would you actually use something like this while watching YouTube? And more importantly — what would make you keep it installed?
