Original Summary

I build a paper trading tool, so I keep meeting people who want "a bot that trades my idea". This morning I priced the DIY route from the vendors' own pages. Real-time market data: $99 to $199 a month (Alpaca Algo Trader Plus, Polygon Advanced). A server that stays up: $5 to $25. An AI coding plan: $20 to $200, plus the tokens to fix what it wrote. Broker API keys are free, the reconnects are yours. The part nobody prices: the backtester. You build it, then you have to trust it, and the first one almost always peeks at tomorrow's price. That's why I built Quantradin: paste the strategy, it backtests on real prices with no look-ahead, then runs it as a paper bot on live market prices. Free, paper money only. Honest question for builders: when a product removes a setup cost this big, is "free" believable, or does it read as a catch? submitted by /u/QuanTradin [link] [comments]
