Solo developer in Germany here. Over the last months I built a small app that does one thing: you give it a photo of a roof (drone shot, satellite screenshot, phone photo from the street), and it works out how many panels fit and where. How it works Mark the four corners of the roof slope. The app straightens the perspective. For trapezoid or triangular slopes (hips, gables) it reads the perspective from the tile pattern instead of the outline, because those slopes aren't rectangles and forcing them into one just distorts the photo. Set the scale: draw a line along something with a known length, or pick your tile type and let it count tiles automatically. Enter your module size and hit Fill roof. Draw exclusion zones for chimneys, skylights, vents. Set edge margins. Shifted rows and mixed orientation are optional, for roofs that narrow toward the ridge. Export an A4 spec sheet (PNG/PDF) or JSON with the coordinates of every panel. Screenshots: marking the slope , automatic layout with skylights excluded , row shifting fitting two more modules . What it is NOT: no shading analysis, no yield simulation, no string sizing, no 3D. It covers the "how many modules fit on this roof and what does the layout look like" step, the thing you do before a quote, or before deciding whether it's worth asking for quotes at all. Free, no account. macOS app, Windows installer, and a browser version where the photo never leaves your machine (everything runs client-side, no uploads). 11 languages. What I'd like to hear from people who actually work with roofs: Does the perspective straightening hold up on your photos? It's tuned on my own set of drone and street shots. What's missing before you would use it for a quote or a customer conversation?
