Original Summary

Spent the last couple weeks turning a few recurring scraping headaches into small open-source CLIs. All no API key, all run with npx, all MIT: - yt-transcript — a YouTube video's transcript as clean text or SRT - gtrends — Google Trends interest-over-time from the command line - keyword-ideas — real keyword ideas pulled from Google/YouTube/Amazon/Bing autocomplete - play-reviews — Google Play reviews for any app as JSON Each one came out of an actual annoyance. The one that cost me a whole evening: Google Trends returns a 429 on the first call and everyone assumes it's rate limiting, but that 429 ships a cookie and the same request retried with it returns 200. It's a handshake, not a block. Code's all here: https://github.com/inmanjeffrey89-cell There are hosted versions for bulk/scheduled jobs but the CLIs are free and fine for one-offs. Would genuinely love "you should also scrape X" ideas or any feedback. submitted by /u/thejester1324 [link] [comments]
