Original Summary
Hey all - I feel like I've done everything right. Solved my own problem, launched fast, iterated later, etc, but my user acquisition still isn't working. I'd love some advice. I ended up spending around $400+ on Reddit + Meta ads with only two free signups. I know my ICP down to the bones. 19-23 year old's generally finance majors looking to break into banking through internships or analyst programs. Here's some background on the product. I spend hundreds of hours applying to banking roles in undergrad. Manually refreshing career sites for new postings was a full time job, and most aggregators lived in sh**ty spreadsheets. Also, timing matters A LOT. these roles get thousands and thousands of applicants within the first few days, so staying on top of them matters. LinkedIn was too slow and saturated + doesn't pick up everything. My concept was super simple: I wired into banks APIs (or scraped if not available) and posted them all in an aggregated site, updated every 1-5mins. For paid features, I enabled SMS notifications, so you can get a text the moment a role comes out. I use this for myself, and its EXTREMELY helpful, which is why I wanted to productize it. Before I had SMS, I launched with only the aggregator, and posted in r/FinancialCareers , where a post drove 43 user signups and one paid, but at the time the site was super broken. (I've since fixed). After fixing, I thought naively I could just turn on paid ads and go, but of course that didn't work. I'm now wondering if my landing page is too complicated, but I designed it with the idea that I wanted to reduce friction as much as possible. Now, I'm trying to move into UGC. I'm looking at using side shift, but it is rather expensive. I'm also looking to do some partnerships on tik tok with micro influencers. I guess what i'd like is feedback/if you think the site is too complicated to convert. I don't want to link to it here out of respect for the subreddit rules. But if you have any advice id really appreciate it. If I built a product nobody wants id understand, and continue using my tool for myself, but that one reddit post that drove 43 signups keeps me thinking my other marketing is doing something wrong. submitted by /u/EdwardKost7 [link] [comments]
