Original Summary
I had Claude create a training plan for a half marathon for me, and I thought, “I might as well have it displayed as a nice GUI instead of just in the chat.” I know, there are already plenty of training apps out there, but that's just my personal use case, and maybe it'll help others, too. It's called Pace Lab: a native macOS app, vibecoded with Claude Code, free and open source. The main idea: your own coach, powered by your own AI. Pace Lab doesn't have its own AI backend. The coach runs on your Mac through whatever you already use: - Claude Code or Codex, with the login you already have or a fully local model through LM Studio, so nothing leaves your machine You pick the engine and the exact model version and you can switch any time. The coach reads your plan and your runs, reviews your week, analyses each run, and adjusts or plans whole training blocks. Its rules and your athlete profile live in a plain README in your training folder, so you shape how your coach thinks. What else it does - Training plan with structured workouts - Loads runs from Garmin Connect or Strava - Sends workouts to your Garmin watch - Every change the coach makes is versioned with git and can be undone - Desktop widgets and a menu bar extra - English and German No server, no account, no telemetry. Your data stays in a folder on your Mac. It's built for my own training, so expect rough edges. Feedback is very welcome!
