Original Summary
I'm the developer, so full disclosure up front: this is my app. Problem I've been restoring old lectures and videos. A lot of them have rough audio, and some came as FLAC or OGA files. Converting them online was slow and kept interrupting the work. I went back to Audacity. It can do almost anything, but its interface wore me down. I wanted to process a file, listen to the result, make another change, and move on. Comparison Audacity is the closest free option, and doing noise removal, volume levelling and format conversion in it means juggling effects, plugins and export settings every time. The paid tools I tried wanted about $80 for noise removal and another $20 for conversion. The $100 wasn't really the issue. I wanted something simpler for people starting out, or working on a nonprofit project like mine. Ampliflare Audio puts the whole workflow in one window. Five tools: remove noise from speech, enhance by evening out volume and cutting low rumble, cut a recording to the part you need, split a recording into pieces, and convert between formats including less common ones like OGA. Process a batch of files, listen in the app, watch progress, and find the results in Activity. New files are saved and the originals are left alone. Everything runs on your computer, nothing is uploaded, and it works with no internet at all. DeepFilterNet3 and FFmpeg do the heavy lifting. The Mac build is notarized and runs on Apple silicon and Intel. Current version is 1.1.0. Pricing Free for personal use, every feature, up to 20 files a week. For commercial work (client projects, a paid podcast, a monetized channel) you buy a one-time license at a price you choose. The launch offer suggests $25, $40 or $60, with a $5 minimum, and it removes the file limit permanently. No subscription. I want to keep making software the old-school way: install it, open it, and get on with the work. If it helps you, I'd like to hear how it works for you. submitted by /u/thepurpleproject [link] [comments]
