Hi! I’ve been building BugDrop, an open-source tool that records debugging evidence for desktop apps, iOS simulators, Android emulators, and browser tabs. The new v0.2.3 desktop preview is ready, and I’m especially looking for people willing to test it on macOS and Linux: https://github.com/aim0xyz/bugdrop/releases/tag/v0.2.3 BugDrop runs locally and does not require an account, cloud service, or AI API key. You select a running app, reproduce a bug, add steps, and review the collected logs, screenshots, and optional video before exporting anything. What I’d love help testing: - Does the app install and launch on your OS and CPU architecture? - Does it find your running desktop apps? - On macOS, does the screen-recording permission flow work? - Does “Take screenshot” capture the selected app window even while BugDrop is in front? - Does optional video record only the selected app window? - Can you stop a capture and open the local review report? - On Linux, which distribution, desktop environment, display server (Wayland/X11), and package format did you use? Please include your OS version, CPU architecture, desktop environment, the app you tried to capture, and exact steps for anything that failed. Screenshots are useful, but please check them for private information first. A note about size: BugDrop currently uses Electron, so every package includes Chromium and Node.js. The universal macOS download also contains both Apple Silicon and Intel binaries, which is why it is much larger than the application code itself. Splitting the Mac download by architecture is one option I’m considering. This is an early preview. macOS has received the most local testing; Linux packages are produced in CI and need broader real-world testing.
