Original Summary
I used to save everything. Posts, links, articles, screenshots. Whenever I found something good I hit save, and then kept scrolling. One day I opened the saved tab in the social app I use most and the counter said 3,210. I had read maybe five of them 😅 The same thing was happening with my journals. I've been writing in Obsidian for five years and never went back to read any of it. One night I made myself open an old entry and the whole evening was gone. It was honestly a great evening. But I never did it again, because picking which entry to open took more willpower than reading it. I tried read-later apps, but they're all just another place to store things. I didn't need more storage. I needed something that hands the old stuff back to me without me having to choose. So I built an app for it. The app is called Pickle . It deals you a small feed of 5, 10 or 20 items from everything you've saved: links, notes, photos, files and your Obsidian vault. When you reach the end, you're done. No endless scroll. There's an iPhone, iPad and Mac app, it's free, and there's an optional one-time $7.99 Pro for iCloud sync. No account, no tracking, everything stays on your device. Right now it has about a dozen users and zero paying ones :D but I use it every day, and it's changed how I spend my free time. Some things that were harder than I expected: Naming. It started as MySave, then PastPicks, now Pickle. Every rename meant changing the app, the store listing, the website and the in-app purchase all over again. And finding a name that wasn't already taken took way longer than I expected. Keeping it finite. It's very tempting to make a feed infinite. But the whole point is to finish something, so every mix has an end. Marketing , by far. This post is literally my first try 😄 I'd really love feedback. Is it clear what it does from the App Store page? And how do you deal with your own pile of saves?
