Original Summary
I've been working on called Foretaste. It's an extension that intercepts file links so you can view them in the browser without having to download them to your drive first. A few details on how it works: You can right-click any link and choose "Open with Foretaste" or use the hover preview button next to links. For archives (ZIP, 7z, tar), it reads the file header/index remotely over range requests so you don't have to pull down the entire file just to see the folder tree or pull one file out. Supports DOCX, XLSX (with sheets), PDF, CSV, Parquet, SQLite ( .db ), and Jupyter notebooks. Privacy: Built strictly client side there is no backend processing server and everything is parsed directly in your browser session. Available on all three stores: Chrome: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/bkoonfclkemobfhbgldciamjpojbmlmi Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/foretaste/ Edge: https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/foretaste-%E2%80%94-see-inside-a-/jemmaddegagpkkeomclpajjknjcodnnp Website: https://foretaste.page Would appreciate any feedback on performance or the reader interface. submitted by /u/SmartDepartment3785 [link] [comments]
