Original Summary
Every course I tried taught me to order coffee and ask where the library is. None of them taught me how to tell someone they have a nice smile, what "¿Quieres subir?" means at someone's door at 1 a.m., or what my friends were actually saying when they swore. So I built AdultLingo : https://adultlingo.com What it is - Duolingo-style lessons (multiple choice, build-the-sentence, match pairs), for adults (18+) - 30 units per course: flirting and first dates → body language and consent → slang, swearing and dating-app culture → the explicit stuff (hidden unless you opt in) - Eight recurring characters teach the lessons, with recorded audio - Chat lessons: five turns with a character by text, phone or face to face. Your replies move an interest meter that decides how it ends - Every Spanish unit has a consent lesson: asking, checking in, taking a no gracefully - Spaced repetition (FSRS, the algorithm Anki uses) brings words back before you forget them How it works - Free. No account, no email - Everything runs in your browser. Progress stays on your device, and you can export it as a JSON backup - No backend at all: it's a static site Spanish is the most complete course right now. Chinese and Japanese have the core lessons but not the newer formats yet. I'd love honest feedback: does the first lesson hook you? Is anything confusing? Which language should I build out next? submitted by /u/Key_Holiday1430 [link] [comments]
