Original Summary

I kept wanting apps nobody would ever ship. A shooter just for my commute. A Scrabble board for my family's group chat. So I built Build Your App: you describe the app, it builds it on your phone, and you open it like any other app. Some things I've made with it: - Twin Stick, a neon arena shooter in the style of Geometry Wars. One sentence, then "make the character cooler, add more enemies". It did both. - Scrabble with a shared board, so my family plays turns from their own phones. Nobody's allowed to play QI anymore. - A daily word game with my own word list, which is mostly inside jokes. - A bookmark app that saves a picture with every link, because I remember things by what they looked like. Ideas I want someone else to try: a tracker for how many times your cat sits on your keyboard, a timer that roasts you when you snooze it, a menu picker for indecisive couples. How it works: apps run in a locked-down sandbox on your phone, most stay fully offline, and the ones with a shared space sync between the people you invite. Edits are just more sentences. Android only for now. You get 25 free credits when you sign up, which covers a few builds. https://build-your.app I'd love to hear the strangest app you'd build. I'll try a few of the best ones and post what comes out. submitted by /u/Ok-Reputation-782 [link] [comments]
