Original Summary

Hi all! I've been building RupeeCheck ( https://rupeecheck.in ), a set of free personal-finance calculators for India. Why: [one or two lines in your own words, e.g. what frustrated you about existing calculators, or a decision you were trying to make yourself] What it does: 14 calculators covering CTC to in-hand salary, old vs new tax regime, HRA, SIP and goals, home-loan EMI, FD/RD, gratuity, FIRE, rent vs buy, moving abroad, returning to India, job-offer comparison, salary hike, and net worth, plus a life-plan simulator. Rules are updated for Tax Year 2026-27. A few things I cared about: - No signup, no backend for your data. Calculations run in your browser; what you type isn't sent to my servers. - Shows its working. Instead of one number, you see where the money goes, e.g. a ₹12 LPA CTC pays about ₹88,276 a month in hand, and most of the "missing" money is your own PF and gratuity. - India-specific details like professional tax, the 8 HRA metro cities, and the new-regime rebate. Built with: [your stack] What surprised me building it: the return-to-India calculator showed that taking even a modest Indian job cuts the corpus you need far more than people expect. For one sample profile, ₹3.3 Cr needed with no job fell to about ₹1.8 Cr with a ₹10 LPA job. Honest limitations: it's an estimate tool for education, not tax or investment advice, and it hasn't been reviewed by a chartered accountant yet. Would love feedback, especially: - Anything confusing in the UI - Calculators you'd want that are missing - Any number that doesn't match your payslip (that's how I find bugs) submitted by /u/ychakri123 [link] [comments]
