Original Summary
For three months I pointed the measurement at myself instead of a client. Six engines, 42 questions, 455 runs, July through late September. Three numbers came back and only one of them was comfortable. On my own name, 35 out of 35. Every engine, every time. On the category question, the ones somebody types when they already know what kind of thing they want to buy, 0 citations out of 196 measurements across 25 questions. Zero. On questions about the underlying problem, where nobody types a product category at all, 38 out of 137. So the engines know who I am, they will not raise my name with anyone who has not already heard it, and they will quote me on the problem rather than the service. That is three separate machines, not one funnel with a leak in it. The category questions are the ones carrying commercial intent, and they are held by something other than my competitors. Citations there went to video, to tool vendors running comparison pages, and to directories. Twenty of the twenty-five pulled from the same video platform. Which makes the brand score the trap and not the win. 35 out of 35 reads like visibility and is the opposite of it. It only fires once somebody has already typed my name, so it measures what I already had before any of this started. I had been carrying all three as a single number for about a year. Has anyone split their own measurement this way, category questions on one side and problem questions on the other? I want to know whether that gap survives outside my own data. submitted by /u/HerveDhelin [link] [comments]
