Original Summary

Website: https://zex.leoog.com/ I've been using Windows for years, and at some point I realized how often I was jumping between different apps just to work with files. Everything for search. 7-Zip for archives. FastCopy for large transfers. IDM / qBittorrent for downloads. PotPlayer for video. Other tools for images, 3D files, duplicates, disk tools, etc. So I started building Zexor . The idea is pretty simple: If I'm already looking at a file, why do I need another app to do something with it? A few things that make Zexor different: .zex — compressed files you can actually run .zex is Zexor's own archive format. Instead of: Download → Extract → Find the exe → Run you can do: Download → Run The contents stay compressed, but software and games can be accessed and run directly from the .zex file. You can even package a .zex as a normal .exe . A different way to browse folders Zexor also has a canvas-style view where a folder can branch into multiple file lists. So instead of constantly going: Folder A → Folder B → Back → Folder C → Back you can keep several folders open as branches and drag files between them. It's closer to a workspace than a traditional file browser. And there's a lot more Zexor also includes things I normally use separate apps for: Fast file copy/move File search and folder size Image/video/audio/3D preview Downloads, HTTP/HTTPS, BT and magnet links Phone/NAS/SSH/SFTP/FTP access Duplicate finding and file hashes Disk SMART and maintenance tools Batch rename, file grouping and custom folder organization It's still very much a work in progress, but I use it as my daily file manager now. macOS and Linux versions are still under development. I'd really like to hear what people think, especially about the .zex idea and the canvas-style file management. https://zex.leoog.com/ submitted by /u/metalbug4 [link] [comments]
