A genogram is a family tree with clinical notation on it: who married who, who is cut off from who, who drank, who died and when. It's a tool used in therapy when working with relationships, kids and families. Therapists, social workers, psychologists, nurses and students draw them all the time, and nearly always about real people. I've been working with children and families for about 8 years, and so far I've always drawn these by hand, or fiddled about in PowerPoint trying to get them to look good. The tools I found were cloud accounts or subscription-based, so a client's family history ends up on someone else's server. They were also usually quite dated and ugly. So I decided to make GenoCanvas . What it actually does Right-click a person to add parents, partners, children or siblings; each generation keeps its own row Standard notation: close, distant, cut-off, conflict and abuse lines, markers, twins, adoption, pregnancies and losses Ages worked out from the years Start from a template, or paste a list of people and it draws the family PDF (A4/A3), PNG, SVG, print, and an anonymised copy for supervision Keyboard and screen reader friendly How the privacy part works (the bit I'm proudest of) The whole app is one ~400 KB HTML file: plain JavaScript, no framework, no build step Its Content Security Policy is default-src 'none' with no connect-src , so the page can't fetch, post or beacon anything. You can check it in devtools. The only script allowed to run is pinned by its SHA-256 hash No accounts, no analytics.
