Thousands of people joined the online queue at 09:00 BST in the hope of securing tickets to the festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset, which returns from 23 to 27 June after a fallow year. Organisers confirmed last month that tickets for the weekend were at their highest price ever - £408, including a £5 booking fee per ticket - an increase of £29.50 from the last event in 2025. Headliners have yet to be announced but organiser Emily Eavis previously said the team was "very excited" and things were "coming together really well". Glastonbury posted on Instagram shortly after 09:40 to announce that tickets had sold out, and notified those who were in the queue. "Thank you to everyone who bought one and we're sorry to those of you who missed out on a morning where demand greatly exceeded supply," the post said. "There will be a resale of any cancelled or returned tickets in Spring 2027." People in the online queue for Glastonbury tickets received a notification when they were sold out The first round of tickets, which were for coach packages, went up for sale on Thursday and sold out in less than half an hour. Despite the increase in cost, Zoe Scott, who has been to the festival twice, said "the price is totally worth it". "You're getting to see thousands of acts, there's over 100 stages," she said. "It's such a vibe at Glastonbury- everyone's so happy and free-spirited. You're just on a constant high from friends, music and the sun is usually shining". A couple who first met at Glastonbury will also be heading to Worthy Farm next year to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. Nick and Helen Nugget from Amersham met through mutual friends at the festival in 2007 and will be returning next year with the same group. Nick told BBC Your Voice that they were "absolutely delighted" to be going back. The couple last went to the festival in 2011- although they were successful in securing tickets in 2019, they were unable to attend due to the adoption of their daughter. Supplied / Nick and Helen Nugget met at a "very muddy" Glastonbury back in 2007 Among those who were not successful were Mat Chapman and his daughter Amy. Mat told the BBC that he used to watch the festival on TV with Amy when she was little, promising to take her when she was five years old as "she always wanted to have her own flag that you could see on the telly". Mat had hoped that after 20 years of trying, he would be able to beat the queue this year, on Amy's 26th birthday. Unfortunately he only ever moved from "two bar hell to three bar purgatory". "There's always next year. We'll fly the flag there one day." Tickets cost more than £400 for the first time This year's Glastonbury tickets have breached the £400 mark for the first time. Tickets have increased over the years, from £185 in 2010 to £408 for the upcoming 2027 line-up. Most price rises have come since the pandemic, with tickets climbing from £318 in 2019 to a peak of £408 in 2027. But unlike recent years, much of the 2010s saw relatively steady price hikes. Any tickets from today's sale that are not paid for in full by the early April 2027 deadline will be put back into an official resale pool, festival organisers said. The exact date for this is yet to be announced, but in previous years it has been in late April. Follow BBC Somerset on Facebook and X .
