Original Summary
I keep work, client and personal logins apart with Firefox containers. Multi-Account Containers maps a whole domain to one container, which falls apart the moment you want github.com/your-company in Work and the rest of GitHub in Personal. Containerise can do per-path rules, but they live on the machine you typed them on, and I got tired of setting it all up again on every laptop. So I made Passport Containers. Rules are host plus path, a glob, or a regex, and the most specific one wins. They're stored in Firefox's own sync storage, so when you sign in on a new machine and install the add-on, the rules and containers are already there. The part that took longest was bookmark keywords. Firefox has no extension API for them, so if you sign in with your Mozilla account, Passport writes the keyword straight into the bookmark's Firefox Sync record and Firefox applies it as a real keyword on every device. There's a write-up of how that works on my blog if anyone's curious. Version 0.5.2 went out today. It's free, MIT licensed, and works in Firefox and Zen. The rule format is close enough that pasting your old rules in mostly works. submitted by /u/Hrolgarr [link] [comments]
