Original Summary
I posted my bedtime story app for feedback and got one comment that was worth more than the rest of the week. The app generates serial bedtime stories for kids: one world, same characters, each night adds an episode ending with a preview of tomorrow. The tester said the serial part was obvious right away, which was the thing I was worried about. Then: "probably would've closed it around the third screen if i wasn't testing on purpose." Three screens of setup before you see a single story. I built it that way because the stories are personalised, so of course I need the kid's name, age, interests first. Made complete sense from the inside. From the outside it's three screens of forms before any evidence the thing works. Now rebuilding it so the first episode generates on defaults and all the personalisation questions come after they've heard a story. Posting this mostly because I'd been running traffic to that onboarding for two weeks without knowing. One person testing on purpose found it in ten minutes. Anyone else have a case where the fix was just reordering what you already had? submitted by /u/Miserable-Shock3552 [link] [comments]
