Original Summary
I'm the developer of ListenSlice. I shared it here a few weeks ago: it's a browser tool where you replay an English sentence, type what you hear, and compare your answer with the transcript. You can use the prepared library or bring your own audio, and return to the same material later. I just changed a small part of the practice flow. After checking or revealing an answer, there's now an 'Explain this sentence' button beside the comparison. One click sends the current sentence to the AI tutor for a simple explanation; you can then ask about grammar, expressions or connected speech. It doesn't send a request automatically. The problem I'm trying to address is the gap between seeing the correct words and actually understanding the sentence. The tutor already existed lower down the page, but I haven't established whether people weren't finding it or simply didn't need it. This is a discoverability experiment, not a claim that it improves learning or retention. The library and basic dictation are free to try without an account. AI explanations require sign-in and currently include 3 free questions per day; there's an optional paid plan with higher limits. Try a short passage: https://www.listenslice.com/library?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=community&utm_campaign=oct2026_sentence_help&utm_content=sideproject_update If you practise English with podcasts or recordings, I'd appreciate a quick test: try three sentences, then tell me whether an explanation is useful at that point, or whether replaying the audio is what you actually need. submitted by /u/Plastic-Pay-6729 [link] [comments]
