Original Summary
I was curious to see if the ai boom is similar to the dotcom bubble, and if yes where we currently are so I built a page that just tries to answer it. It lines up the AI boom against the dot-com bubble (ChatGPT launch = Netscape IPO, Fed hike = Fed hike) and tracks six things that happened before the 2000 crash – which ones have happened again, which are building, which haven't.
Interestingly, after the Fed's first hike in June 1999, the Nasdaq went up another 88% before it dropped 78%. So "it's 1999" doesn't mean "sell", it means the crazy part might still be ahead.
Obvious weak spots: ChatGPT = Netscape was the choice of my AI you can argue for a different anchor. And the "peak ~7 months after first hike" is a median of five similar bubbles, two of which actually peaked before the hike. It's on the page.
Full disclosure, I built this with Claude and the weekly judgments + forecasts are made by it, with sources. The forecasts are dated so we'll see how wrong it was. trying to leverage the model intelligence for it.
Curious what you take from it in the first few seconds, and where you think the comparison falls apart.
