The trend of adding AI to each SaaS project is really tempting and I ALMOST did it. The good thing is that I didn't. In my opinion, now everyone is going to use their AI subscription, be it ChatGPT, Claude, etc and use MCP or similar plugins/tools to connect to your product. This is the best way in general, as only you have the best memories and context about yourself. Especially if you're using tools as OpenClaw, Hermes or any of the new Grok Bot, Muse etc. What I did is stick to the basics and keep my project AI free, but with a way to connect via MCP and such tools. The goal was the best UX in the industry and simple API that everyone can connect. It kinda worked as I have almost zero support messages and trust me for a social media scheduler ( PostFast ) this is really rare. I spent all my time polishing each error or warning, instead of chasing some AI writing of post, or article or whatever. In the beginning I was pretty skeptical about the decision, as you might understand that when everyone is building in that direction it seems scary to go in the other one. Currently, i'm 100% sure that it was the best decision, as: No costs associated with AI usage No maintenance of strange AI errors and support tickets No third-party vendor to maintain their 5 updates per week More money for me (and I can offer lower price with good margins) The last one is the whole goal to do business. Provide high-quality service, on reasonable price and get people to stay while they use their every day tools, so you get even less churn. I'm trying to do the same with my next project (SendHeron, for transactional/marketing emails), but its early days there too, and it has "some" AI-usage but pretty basic to help with onboarding.
