I put together this map to find places whose names mean similar things, even when the names sound nothing alike. Click a country or city to see its meaning and explore related places. Words mode looks for shared terms across translations; Vector mode compares precomputed embeddings. I’m still tweaking the matching, so some results are a bit odd. I used ai tools to help build it and draft some of the meanings. Those meanings may be wrong, and many places don’t have one yet.
