Hi Folks, I'm a scientist in Chemistry field, and absolutely not a developer. Had an idea for a portfolio tracker for a while and asked a few coder friends if they wanted to build it with me. Everyone said cool idea but nobody actually helped. Did not even bother to have a look. So I just built it myself. Learned as I went, used a lot of AI help, and after a few months it's actually live and working. React, Supabase, Vercel. Started on a no-code tool and moved off it when it got limiting. Building was hard but doable. Getting people to actually use it is way harder and I did not expect that. I've tried a few directory launches, some posting, a blog for SEO, but it mostly feels like nothing is landing. So my question for solo founders here: what was the first thing that actually got you users? As I come from chemistry/manufacturing side, it is very hard (need a lot of capital and human resource and time) to build a product/prototype and then enormously difficult to scale up. But here I am in a very unfamiliar territory where the product is done, now what? Can share the stack or what I've tried if useful. Happy to share the stack or what I've tried so far. Mostly just want to learn from people who've gotten past this stage. This is the first time I am working in a field where I have no Subject matter expertise, it's exciting but also Scaryyy.
