I kept finding furry things at the back of my fridge and feeling stupid about it. Turns out there are already several apps that let you photograph a fridge and get recipes back, and I tried them — but every one treats each photo as a fresh start. Snap, cook, forget. That misses the actual problem. The reason food gets binned isn't that I don't know recipes. It's that I don't know the spinach has been in there nine days. So mine keeps a history. Scan it again next week and each ingredient carries how long it's been sitting there — 9d , 3d — and dinner gets ranked so the oldest thing gets used first. Cook something and it comes off the list.
