Just released the first public preview of Viewpoint Arena , a side project I've been building for a while. What it is: a shared room for design reviews. A small team opens the same 3D model in the browser, points at parts, follows whoever is presenting, and talks it through on a video call. While you talk, it transcribes the meeting and turns it into risk, action and rationale cards that land in an action tracker. So the "who was doing what again?" email after the meeting writes itself. The part I'm happiest with: it all runs on your own machine. Transcription is Whisper and the cards come from a local model through Ollama, so by default no audio or text leaves the computer. One install script sets everything up with Docker in about 15 minutes. Some things it can do: Opens common 3D formats, including CAD files (STEP, IGES, BREP) right in the browser Lead/follow camera, split screen to see exactly what a colleague sees Try a design change as a "variant", then keep it or drop it, with the reasons saved Sign-in from none at all up to company single sign-on Daily automatic backups Stack: React + three.js, PartyKit for the live rooms, Supabase/Postgres, Whisper + Ollama, Docker Compose. Where it's at: version 0.1, a preview. It works end to end, but there are rough edges. Video calls across different networks need extra setup, the built-in AI writes weaker summaries than a cloud model, and I've only tested it on Windows + WSL so far. Looking for contributors.
