that was basically the experiment behind udictio. instead of an endless main feed, everything starts with a topic. love has a page. loneliness has a page. united states has a page. a movie, a person, a phrase, some obscure internet thing can have one too. people add their own definitions, opinions, stories, explanations, images, links, or experiences to that same page over time. we recently passed 300 authors, which is still small, but it's enough that some topics are starting to become something i couldn't really create myself: a collection of how different people see the same thing. that's probably my favorite part of building it. the first person to write about something creates the topic. everyone after them adds another perspective to it. there are no ads. no public follower counts or vote counts. and there's no algorithm deciding which opinion deserves to be pushed in front of you. entries are chronological by default. i wanted the writing and the topic itself to matter more than popularity signals. udictio originally started as my master's project, and i kept building it after graduating. i really want to keep shaping and evolving it around how people actually use it and what they need from it, so feedback, criticism, weird ideas, all of it is genuinely useful. i'm especially curious whether the topic based structure feels different after years of using feed based social apps. app store link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/udictio-community-discussions/id6736536592   submitted by   /u/arasdi [link]   [comments]
