Hey everyone! Last week I launched CardKoala ( https://cardkoala.com ), a free site that compares discounted gift card prices. If you haven't heard of this: people sell gift cards they don't want to resale marketplaces, and those marketplaces sell them to you for less than face value. You pay $92, you get $100 to spend at the store. Restaurant, clothing and spa cards are often 10% off or more. The catch is that every marketplace has different prices, and they change all day. Checking 4 sites by hand every time you shop is a pain, so I built a site that does it for you. What it does Compares 4 gift card marketplaces across 640+ stores and restaurants Re-checks prices every hour and shows when they were last checked Shows the real price for the card amount you want ("$46.50 for a $50 card"), not just a % Price history chart for every store Free email alerts when a store hits your target discount. No account needed. Coming in a few days: a simple "buy now or wait?" call on each store, once there are 2 weeks of price history How it's built One Cloudflare Worker (Hono, server-rendered pages), D1 (SQLite) for prices and history, R2 for images, cron jobs for the price checks, and Resend for alert emails. It all runs on Cloudflare's free plan, so hosting costs $0 right now. The fun part: the free plan allows 100,000 database writes a day, so the price checker only saves prices that actually changed. How it makes money It doesn't yet. The plan is affiliate links with the marketplaces (disclosed on the site). Sellers are always sorted by discount, whether they pay me or not. What I'd love feedback on Is it clear what the site does within a few seconds? Which stores or gift card sites should I add? Anything confusing or broken, especially on your phone?
