After working on it for the past few weeks, I finally released OmniConvert . It started because I was tired of using a different website every time I needed to convert, compress or modify a file — and uploading personal files to random servers never felt great either. So I built a desktop app where the actual file processing happens locally on your computer. OmniConvert is completely free right now. Some of the tools included in the first release: • Image conversion and compression • PDF tools • Audio and video conversion • QR and utility tools • Downloadable modules, so you only install the tools you actually need Your files stay on your device during processing. I’m a 2nd-year university student and I’ve been building the app, website and infrastructure mostly by myself, so seeing an actual public build available for download feels pretty surreal.
